The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) by Portuguese companies is finally accelerating. Already 11.5% of them use these technologies, a rise of 2.9 percentage points that is well above the pace of adoption between 2023 and 2024.
Every year INE measures the use of technology by households and companies. In 2025, for the first time, it took the sensible decision to give more prominence to data on AI in companies, at the expense of other technologies, and finally to measure the use of AI by citizens.
